Sunday Night Changes
Categories: Church Activities
Like a fiddler on a roof, tradition meets change. Beginning this week (February 11), We will meet together at the church building at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday nights. That is actually TWO changes– time and place. For the last 15 years or more, we’ve met in homes in small groups on Sunday nights for Bible study, fellowship and prayer, and that tradition has served us well. But like socks, church traditions need to be changed every so often… and for similar reasons!
This change of traditions will allow us to better focus on our 2018 theme “The Story” as we work our way through the Bible together in our year long study plan. This change to last at least through the end of May (until our summer break), and it may last through all of 2018. Here’s what will be happening at the building at 5:00 p.m.
- Adults will all meet together in the auditorium. Our study will be a combination of warm-up opening, lecture-and-discussion, watching the DVD that is included with “The Story” curriculum, and breaking into groups for discussion and prayer. We might not do all of this Sunday night— we be extremely flexible.
- Senior High and Middle School groups will continue to meet in their small group meetings. They generally begin a game in the Family Room (moving outside when weather permits). The Senior High group will then move to the Teen Room (Room #2). The Middle School Group will remain in the Family Room
- Child Care for younger-aged children will also be provided each Sunday night. Cindy Harris (“Aunt Cindy”) from Williamsburg will be coming to take care of the children so our parents will be able to participate in the studies without having to take a turn at child care. We want everyone to be able to participate.
As you can see, we will be juggling four different groups at the building at the same time: the Adults in the auditorium, the senior high in Room #2, Middle School in the Family Room and Child Care in the Children Church Room. So it is important that all of our groups start ON-TIME (5:00 p.m.) and also that we end ON-TIME (6:00 p.m.).
